5-methoxytryptamin ist ein Tryptamin-Derivat, das eng mit den Neurotransmitter Serotonin und Melatonin verwandt ist. Es wurde gezeigt, dass 5-Methoxytryptamin bei niedrigen Niveaus natürlich im Körper auftritt. Es wird durch Deacetylierung von Melatonin in der Zirbeldrüse biosynthetisiert.
4. Funktionsweise:
5-methoxytryptamin ist ein Tryptamin-Derivat, das eng mit den Neurotransmitter Melatonin und Serotonin verwandt ist. Es fungiert als vollständiger Agonist bei den Rezeptoren 5-HT1-, 5-HT2-, 5-HT4-, 5-HT6- und 5-HT7-Rezeptoren, hat jedoch keine Affinität zum 5-HT3-Rezeptor. Es ist ein vollständiger Agonist bei den Rezeptoren 5-HT1-, 5-HT2-, 5-HT4-, 5-HT6- und 5-HT7-Rezeptoren.
5. Anwendung:
Die schützende Wirkung von 5-methoxytryptamin, einem Metaboliten von Melatonin, in menschlichen Keratinozyten gegen Ultraviolett B (UVB) wurde untersucht. 5-methoxytryptamin als Agonist wurde in pharmakologischen Studien von Serotonin-1-Rezeptoren verwendet.
